Running Target (Coldwater Bay Intrigue) by [Goddard, Elizabeth]My Review: Running Target is part of the Coldwater Bay series and the best yet. It can be read as a stand-alone. But be prepared to be taken on the adventure of a lifetime. Bree Carrington and her partner were making a routine water patrol when their world was turned upside down by drug running hit-men. Running for her life she is found by Quinn Strand with the DEA. He happens to be family friend and ex of Bree. Together they run for their lives, trying to protect her family and clear Quinn’s name. Running Target is well written, the characters are well thought out. It is action packed page turner that will keep you at the edge of your seat. It also has a few twists and turns that were truly unexpected. Elizabeth Goddard has done a superb job with this 5-star book. I look forward to her next one.

Courting Mr. Emerson, Melody Carlson

Melody Carlson

                                   Courting Mr. Emerson

Back cover: When the fun-loving and spontaneous artist Willow West  meets buttoned-up, retired English teacher George Emerson, it's not exactly love at first sight. Though she does find the obsessive-compulsive man intriguing. Making it her mission to get him to loosen  up and embrace life, she embarks on what seems like a lost cause-- and finds herself falling for him in the process.

A confirmed bachelor, George vacillates between irritation and attraction whenever Willow is around--which to him seems like all too often. He's not interested in expanding his horizons or making new friends; it just hurts too much when you lose them.

But as the summer progresses, George feels his defenses crumbling. The question is, will his change of heart be too late for Willow?

With her signature heart and touches of humor, fan favorite Melody Carlson pens a story of two delightfully eccentric characters who get a second chance at life and love.

My Review: Artist Willow West meets straitlaced recently retired teacher George Emerson and sparks fly. Read this great book to see if he can let go of his uptight ways and trust himself to love once again. Willow had me chuckling at her outrageous antics. Melody Carlson was able to weave Christian values into her story without being preachy.  She takes us on a tale of mid - life changes with faith and amusement. Even touches on some hard subjects with grace and dignity. This book was an easy enjoyable read.  The characters were realistic and lively. I give Courting Mr. Emerson 5 stars and hope she continues the story of some of the minor characters.

Look for other great books by Melody Carlson

Lone Star Standoff, Margaret Daley

High-Risk Reunion (Lone Star Justice)

            Lone Star Standoff
          Margaret Daley
Backcover: A high-profile trial turns lethal…

The next exciting Lone Star Justice novel

Presiding over the trial of a powerful drug cartel member, Judge  Aubrey Madison finds her life threatened, and Texas Ranger Sean McNair isn’t taking any chances. Protecting the widow and her  twins comes naturally to Sean—maybe too naturally for a guy who’s convinced he shouldn’t  have a family. But he can’t help wishing for a future with Aubrey…if he can keep her alive.

When a high profile trial turns deadly for Judge Aubrey Madison she turns to Texas Ranger Sean McNair for help. Both have lost love ones to the powerful drug cartel Coastal and are determined to bring them to justice.
Margaret Daley hit this one out the ballpark. Lone Star Standoff was differently a 5 star book. It was fast paced, non stop action, a touch of romance and a page turner. I enjoyed the well developed characters and realistic story line. The twist and turns of the plot kept me from putting it down. Lone Star Standoff is part of the Lone Star Justice series but can be read alone. Pick up this great book or any Margaret Daley has written you will not be disappointed.

How The Light Gets In

How the Light Gets In
Jolina Petershew
How the Light Gets In by Jolina Petersheim

This is my first book by author Jolina Petersheim, I doubt it will be my last. In How the Light Gets In, she takes a modern - day twist on the biblical story of Ruth. There were so many plot twists I never saw coming, even to the very end. As I turned the last page I sit here thinking and reflecting on the martial truths I learned. I wondered what was real. I honestly never expected the end or the many plot twists. I do know my eyes were opened to the real meaning of family and community. I was shown there is hope to be found in the mist of hardships, grief and the hurts of life. This book encouraged me to take a fresh look at how I approach strife in my marriage. And I also had to go back and reread the book of Ruth. I read many books but it is rare for one to touch me as much as this one did.

The author Jolina Petersheim did an outstanding job of developing the characters in fact she brought them to life. The plot has many twists and turns. It is a fastest paced book that engages you. I give How the Light Gets In 5 stars and look forward to reading my next Jolina Petersheim novel.

Deadly Echoes
Photo & Book Descritpion from http://www.barnesandnoble.com/

Book Description:After a youth filled with tragedy and upheaval, Sarah Miller's life is finally settled with all echoes of the past silent at last. She happily calls Sanctuary her home and spends her days teaching at the local school.
Sarah's joy at her recent reunion with her sister, Hannah, and meeting the niece she didn't know she had is too soon interrupted when Deputy Sheriff Paul Gleason informs Sarah her sister has been killed.
As she learns more about Hannah's death, the circumstances are eerily similar to their parents' murder. Sarah enlists Paul's help in digging deeper into the murders the police are dismissing as burglaries gone wrong. Paul's concern encourages Sarah's growing feelings for him, but as their investigation peels back the layers of lies almost twenty years old, they get close to uncovering the truth one person will do anything to hide--even if that means coming after the last remaining members of the Miller family.

On A Ring and A Prayer by Sandra D. Bricker

On A Ring & A Prayer: A Jessie Stanton Novel - Book 1 by Sandra D. Bricker

Christian Fiction

ISBN 978-1426711602

Abingdon Press

Jessie Stanton had it all. She had the mansion, husband and any martial possessions every girl dreams of. After fourteen years of marriage she witnesses her car being towed, her credit cards are declined and her husband and his belonging are gone. He has left her homeless and taken anything with value. I laughed with her and my heart broke for her but she is one resilient chic. She handles each and every bump in the road with grace and dignity. She finds hope when things look hopeless. The ending took me by surprise, so book 2 best not be far behind.

Sandra D. Bricker has done it again, with this 5 star book. She has a way of writing entertaining stories and interweaving faith throughout. She is one of my favorite authors. I highly recommend this book and any other she has written. If I learned anything from this book it is, possessions are just that things. What really matters is friendships and faith.

I want to give a high-five to the author Sandra D. Bricker and publisher Abingdon Press for bringing compelling Christian books that are entertaining and give hope to the reader with stories of faith.
